Blame my parents (both teachers), or blame my enduring addiction to The Babysitters Club, but I was born a teacher, even though it took me until I was 27 to figure it out. I completed my Masters degree in early childhood education, and my type 04 teaching certification, at the Erikson Institute in 2009. I teach at a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool program in a northern suburb of Chicago (think John Hughes movies) and was honored in 2010 and 2011 with Teacher Tribute awards from the Alliance for Early Childhood. I also teach Spirit Play, a Montessori-inspired Unitarian Universalist Sunday School curriculum, and serve as my church’s early childhood curriculum caretaker.
